Exploration and day hikes in one of the world's last great wilderness areas Alaska is a true wilderness, where man's influence is still restricted to a few ports and old trading townships. The region contains many of North America's highest mountains and most spectacular scenery, with glaciers, forests, lakes and rushing rivers combining to offer some of the best hiking country on the continent. We will have excellent opportunities to see marine life as we travel through Prince William Sound to Valdez. Then heading northwards, we visit the vast expanse of peaks and glaciers in the WrangellSt Elias Mountains, before reaching Denali National Park and the highest peak in North America, Mt McKinley (6194m). Profile: 6 daywalks, 3 half-day walks and up to 4 shorter walks. Mainly moderate altitudes. Grade B/C. Group: min. 6, max. 12, plus leader. Min. age 16. Accommodation: 9 nights camping, 3 nights lodge, 2 nights hotel. Food: all meals included when camping, room only in hotels and lodges.
Impressive hikes amongst the lakes, glaciers and peaks of British Columbia and Alberta The beautiful Canadian Rockies represent a small but magnificent part of the vast chain that runs virtually the whole length of the North American continent. Many of the scenic areas have been designated national parks and this trip visits the most famous and spectacular of these. The extensive network of trails through these parks allows quick, if sometimes strenuous, access into some superb high mountains and glaciers. The multitude of alpine flowers as well as wildlife such as eagles, deer, moose and bear are an added bonus. Profile: 8 full-day and 3 half-day walks. Altitude maximum 2610m, average 2000m. Grade C. Group: min. 7, max. 13, plus leader. Min. age 18. Accommodation: 12 nights camping, 1 night hotel. Food: all food included while camping, breakfast only in hotel.

Itinerary: Day 1 Fly to Calgary. 2 Drive to Lake Louise and short hike at Moraine Lake. 3/5 Based at Lake Louise; walking in Yoho and Banff N.Ps. 6 Along the spectacular Columbia Icefields Parkway to Jasper. 7 Hike at Cavell Meadows. 8 Walking at Maligne Lake and Bald Hills. 9 Return along the Icefield Parkway; sightseeing in Banff and to Kananaskis. 10 Walk to the summit of Mt. Indefatigable. 11 Drive to Waterton; half-day hike to Bertha Lake or optional horseriding. 12/13 Hikes to Crypt Lake and Carthew Pass at Waterton Lakes N.P. 14 Visit Head Smashed in Buffalo Jump and return to Calgary. Depart. 15 Arrive London.
