Weather permitting, we may also glimpse the park's other famous attraction ­ Mount McKinley. Rising to 20,320 feet, McKinley is North America's highest peak. A snack lunch is included in our tour and in late afternoon we arrive at the Grande Denali Lodge where the rest of the evening is free. DAY 13 ANCHORAGE · LONDON After enjoying a leisurely breakfast, we transfer to Anchorage Airport for our scheduled Air Canada flight from Anchorage to London Heathrow, via Vancouver. Late in the morning we will depart aboard the `McKinley Explorer' train along the Alaska Railroad. You will ride high above the terrain in a deluxe vista-dome rail car, which will afford you some wonderful panoramic views of the Alaskan interior. Your coach will meet you upon arrival this afternoon in Talkeetna and transfer you to our hotel, the Talkeetna Alaskan Lodge where the afternoon is yours to relax and enjoy your surroundings. After passing through Anchorage, the drive along the Turnagain Arm is particularly attractive. The mountain backdrop and rugged shoreline combine to make this a real highlight. The peninsula is very popular with locals and visitors alike, offering wildlife viewing, excellent salmon fishing rivers and spectacular scenery. Seward is located at the head of Resurrection Bay. On arrival here we have included entrance to the Alaska Sea Life Center, a research and rehabilitation facility that focuses on marine mammals, seabirds, and fish species of the Northern Pacific. DAY 11 KENAI FJORDS NATIONAL PARK The port of Seward, known as the "Gateway to Kenai Fjords National Park", was established in 1903 by railroad surveyors as an ocean terminus and supply centre. The 470-mile railway connecting Seward and Fairbanks was completed in 1923. This morning we have an included cruise to explore Kenai Fjords National Park. These waters are rich in marine life and there is a possibility that you may view sea lions, sea otters, harbour seals and even whales. There are over 200 different species of birds in the region, including Sheerwaters that fly all the way from Australia's Great Barrier Reef to spend a few weeks in Alaska each year! Onboard naturalist guides will keep you informed of all marine life activity. Lunch is included and after the cruise, we return to our hotel where the remainder of the day is free. DAY 12 SEWARD · ANCHORAGE A leisurely morning to relax and enjoy your surroundings before departing for Anchorage. As we make our way along the Turnagain Arm, the picture postcard panoramas of the Kenai Peninsula provide a fitting finale to your holiday. Located between the Chugach Mountains and Cook Inlet, Anchorage is Alaska's largest city. It originated with the construction of the Alaska Railroad and has grown progressively within a naturally picturesque setting. Our hotel is The Inlet Tower Suites, located within walking distance of the downtown area and its many shopping possibilities.
