All rooms feature private facilities, air-conditioning and telephone. Most locations have a restaurant and bar. In some of the more remote locations accommodation will be simple in style but always comfortable.
The vast scenic wonderland of Alaska is a wilderness beyond belief the largest state in the USA, yet sparsely populated and tranquil. Our spectacular tour weaves its way back and forth across the US-Canada border, taking in the frozen majesty of Alaska, its wildlife, awesome glaciers and ice floes, dark tundra and dramatic mountain ranges. You will also explore the wild and untamed Canadian territory of the Yukon, synonymous with the Klondike and the world's last great gold rush and home to yet more incredible wildlife.
YOUR ITINERARY DAY 1 - Depart on your scheduled flight to Anchorage. On arrival transfer to your hotel for a two night stay. DAY 2 - This morning there will be an included introductory tour of Anchorage. The city is the commercial hub of Alaska, set against majestic mountains on the beautiful Cook Inlet. close-up view of spectacular glaciers. As a glacier calves, sending thousands of tons of ice crashing into the water, a thunderous sound echoes across the bay. DAY 3 - Morning departure for the drive to Canada. Pass through the Matanuska Valley, surrounded by stunning mountains and glaciers, then Wrangell-St. Elias National Park and Preserve. The park is home to immense glaciers and nine of the highest peaks in North America. Cross the border into Canada and Yukon Territory, for an overnight stop in the Beaver Creek area. DAY 4 - Depart Beaver Creek for the drive to the coastal township of Haines, situated on Alaska's glorious Inside Passage. En route visit Kluane National Park, home to several massive glaciers, including the largest non-polar ice fields in the world. Stops will also be made at Sheep Mountain and Kathleen Lake. Overnight stay in Haines. DAY 5 - Depart Haines for the drive to Whitehorse for a two night stay. Known as the Wilderness City, Whitehorse is the capital of the Yukon. It nestles on the banks of the Yukon River, surrounded by mountains and clear lakes. This afternoon we include a sightseeing tour of the city. See the SS Klondike, historic Miles Canyon and the longest fish ladder in the world. This evening join an optional visit to the Whitehorse Frantic Follies a turn of the century vaudeville revue.
