Glaciers foot; whales may appear in the sea swell as squawking sea birds dive bomb the surface. Day 19/20-21 Alaska Range/Wrangell-St Elias National Park Jeepers, the mountainous landscapes just gets better and better. Matanuska Glacier and Copper River Valley provide great camera fodder too, though the snowy park peaks may just trump the lot. Day 22/23 Tok/Kluane National Park From Tiny Tok, the Yukon Territory looms large and gorgeous. Kluane tempts you to stretch those legs within its bewildering beauty. Day 24 Skagway/Ferry Once gold prospectors sought fame and fortune from Skagway, now the natural treasures create the real stir. As your Cruise Ferry edges away, you begin to understand why. Day 25-27 Ferry This four-day cruise along the Inside Passage is simply spellbinding. The jagged coast harbours bald eagles, whales and sea lions; you couldnt write a better ending. Day 28 Ferry/Seattle Mixed feelings back in Seattle: zooming up the Space Needle you contemplate the end of an extraordinary trip. Note: Most ferry passengers stay in a heated solarium equipped with reclining loungers.
Flexible Itinerary
Day 1 Vancouver From Seattle, Vancouver takes its turn to greet you. Around its parks, bars and trendy nightspots, group bonds really flourish. Day 2/3 British Columbia Fraser River Canyon leads us north. Adrenaline junkies will be pleased to hear that Thompson River and whitewater rafting go hand in hand. Day 4 Prince George Ancient Native lands parade major league natural wonders, likewise glacier-encased Stewart Canyon, rippling with pine. Day 5 Hyder The Friendliest Ghost Town in Alaska is the states southernmost city, with pots of clapboard character wrapped within green meadows and snowy white slopes. Day 6/7 Cassiar Highway Expect a bump or two along this dirt and gravel Highway. No matter, soon your hiking boots will provide your suspension, or how about a smooth canoe ride on Cotton Lake? Day 8/9 Whitehorse The Yukon River gold rush lingers in the memory as music halls and taverns whisk you and your posse back a century or so. Day 10/11 Dawson City Imagine finding the yellowish nugget that spells a fortune as you pan for gold at Bonanza Mine. No luck? Then stack up the chips at Diamond Tooth Gerties or seek consolation watching a crimson sunset from Midnight Dome. Day 12 Tangle Lakes Span the Top of the World Highway. Soon youll be toasting marshmallows at the lakeside, anticipating your date with the Great One. Day 13-15 Denali National Park And here it is. At least thats what the indigenous Athabascans called mighty Mount McKinley. The tangle that they call trails look darn good too. Day 16-17/18 Kenai Peninsula/Anchorage Mindblowing vistas appear at every turn. Powder blue icebergs dot Portage Lake; rugged trails lead to Exit
